Common Questions
Book reconstruction for businesses and tax professionals, and white-label delivery for CPA firms.
Book reconstruction
For business owners catching up, tax professionals rebuilding files, and anyone with a deadline, a sale, or missing books.
How much does book reconstruction cost?
A $499 diagnostic, credited toward the rebuild, is the only published fee. Reconstruction itself is a fixed quote per file, based on years behind and accounts involved. You approve the number in writing before work starts.
How long does a rebuild take?
Turnaround depends on years behind, number of accounts, and how complete the records are. The diagnostic tells you the timeline in writing before you commit. Active tax deadlines are scoped first.
What if records are missing?
We rebuild from bank and card statements, invoices, and third-party documents. Banks can usually produce up to seven years of statements. Anything without a source document goes in a gap report. We never invent a number.
Does my tax preparer stay involved?
Yes. We rebuild; they review and file. We coordinate with your preparer if you want. We do not prepare returns and we do not contact the IRS.
What happens with gaps in the books?
Gaps are documented on paper with dollar amounts, not estimated away. Your preparer decides how to treat them. Every categorization decision has a written reason so filing is not a black box.
How far back can you reconstruct?
As far as source records exist. Banks typically retain seven years of statements. Closed businesses, dead software, and shoebox files are in scope as long as we can get the underlying records.
Will you contact the IRS?
Never. We rebuild the books so your representative or preparer can file. Nothing goes to the IRS from us, under any circumstance.
Does the $499 diagnostic credit toward the work?
Yes. The diagnostic is a read-only review: findings, dollar amounts, and a fixed quote. The $499 is credited if you proceed with the rebuild.
For CPA and accounting firms
White-label monthly delivery and cleanup. Your brand. Your clients never see us.
Is this outsourcing overseas?
No. Our team is US-based and every engagement is reviewed and signed off by a licensed US CPA before it reaches you. We own quality control and operational execution end to end.
Will my clients know I'm using Autonomi Books?
No. All deliverables are white-labeled with your firm's branding. Your clients see your logo, your formatting, your standards. They experience this as work done by your firm, because you own the relationship and approve everything before it goes out.
How is this different from bookkeeping software?
Software organizes work you still have to do. We do the work. You're not getting a better tool. You're offloading operational ownership. Your role shifts from execution to review and approval.
What if Autonomi Books makes a mistake?
We own the work, so we own corrections. If something is wrong, we fix it. That's what responsibility transfer means. However, you always have final review. Nothing goes to your client without your approval.
Can I start with just one client?
Yes. We recommend it. Start with one client in the free test, verify quality and fit, then expand at your own pace. Most firms add 1-3 clients per month after converting.
What's the catch for monthly white-label delivery?
Monthly white-label delivery is intentionally narrow. It works for CPA and accounting firms that already do bookkeeping and want to offload operations. It is not a fit if you market bookkeeping as your differentiator, or if you want software to do the work yourself. Tax-only firms that need books rebuilt for back returns use reconstruction, not monthly delivery. If you're unsure, the free test or a reconstruction quote will make the path clear.
Is our client data secure?
Yes. Autonomi Books has completed a SOC 2 Type II audit by an independent auditor, covering security, availability, and confidentiality, with no exceptions noted. Client data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is limited to authorized personnel. The full audit report is available to your firm upon request.
Still have questions?
Owners and tax professionals can get a fixed quote. Firms can start with a free single-client test.
